What is the best brand of shampoo and conditioner <not pantene> that will give you healthy hair?

I don't want products like pantene anymore. I've learned that they contain animal wax which may give you the appearance of healthy, soft hair but can actually damage your hair.

What natural and affordable (well, price doesn't really matter) line of shampoos and conditioners would you recommend to maintain my hair healthy and soft? What is the best brand of shampoo and conditioner %26lt;not pantene%26gt; that will give you healthy hair?
Infusium 23 products are great! What is the best brand of shampoo and conditioner %26lt;not pantene%26gt; that will give you healthy hair?
I have dry hair too haven't started looking around until now because I'm so sick of my hair breaking. I was told by my hair stylist try to stay away from the shampoo's and conditioners that have a lot of Alcohol in them. Also when drying, curling, or flat ironing always put something on your hair to protect it from the hair. It takes more time but well worth it. Also never never never use a hot tool on your hair while it's still wet, or damp. Even though they make tools for your hair while it's wet it's not good on your hair, It actually causes more damage. Good luck with your search. If you find a good product that may be expensive check ebay it may be cheaper!
Burt's Bees Wax has a line of shampoos out. They don't really foam and lather as much as other shampoos which bothered me at first, but my hair looks soooo awesome after I use them. (which says a lot). I use the volumizing line, but I'm sure their others aren't bad either! And they are available at the grocery store (at least at Harris Teeter).

On the more expensive side, of course there are the Aveda products, their ';Dry Remedy'; conditioner was the best thing that happened to my hair all year.
Actually Your body is the best hair product for yourself.

HARD TO BELIEVE RIGHT? No shampoo's to damage your hair just a shower a day, over the course of 21 days. IT is soooooooooo worth it though. I get complements on my hair each day! And I may be a guy, but dudes the ladies love it!

Here's what you must do.

~Shower everyday!

~NO SHAMPOO OR CONDITIONER!

~For a course of 21 days or longer, maybe, you decide, No shampoo or conditioner. (but the min. is 21 days no less.)

~Wash your hair really well with water (some peeps take a shower in the morning and one at night, because your pillow is a big cause in making your hair nasty and grody.)

~The 22nd day get a cheap shampoo and you can wash your hair with that. and then Repeat. The process.

NO straightening your hair! Bad! (sorry girls) but it is bad for your hair! Hairdryers are OK because its not direct heat. Same with curling irons!

--If you don't know what to do with your hair cause you cant straighten it, My women friends doing this put it in an updo. Like a ponytail. something like that.

--Guys, styling wax is OK to use.

IT REALLY WORKS!!!
i have a friend that owns a hair salon and she has said that products like pantene and treseme are the best store bought products you can buy for your hair.

the only other thing you can do is go to a salon and buy something they recommend there.
I know it sounds odd, but seriously, give it a try:

White vinegar.

Yes, it smells bad so do it at night, when it dries, the smell is gone. Vinegar is great for many things- all kinds of cleaning etc. Your hair will be soft and shiny.
TRY HERBAL ESSENCES... EACH SPECIALIZE FOR DIFFERENT THINGS.(EX. ';COLOR ME HAPPY';-FOR COLOR TREATED HAIR OR ';BODY ENVY'; FOR EXTRA BODY TO YOUR HAIR) I USE ';HELLO HYDRATION';...IT WORKS WELL AND LEAVES YOUR HAIR SMELLING AMAZING!

HOPE THIS HELPS!

matrix biolage is the best but it is expensive. the second best and much cheaper would be tresseme
Herbal Essence
i always use biolage or paul mitchell...and sometimes back to basics
john freida has a good line... i myself use tresseme and sunsilk....and they work great
head and shoulders even if you dont have dandruff and it smells really good
Hang on a second; do you actually know what ingredients are in shampoo?

ALL SHAMPOO WILL DAMAGE YOUR HAIR!

Shampoo is nothing more than perfumed detergent to clean dirt out of hair, but it's very harsh and strips natural oils that make your hair shiny, soft and strong, so your hair instead becomes dull, weak and damaged 鈥?thus why you have conditioner to replenish natural oils shampoo strips away. As many as 80% of shampoos contain harmful ingredients like mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate and other ingredients that can cause damage to your hair and scalp. Try a search on Skin Deep for different shampoo brands and common shampoo ingredients and you鈥檒l have a better idea of what鈥檚 in shampoo http://www.ewg.org/reports/skindeep

If you stop using shampoo your hair will be much healthier, stronger, shiny, easier to manage, will grow faster and it won't get greasy as when using shampoo your scalp overcompensates by creating more oils to replace what shampoo stripped away thus causing greasyness. You still wash your hair but instead of shampoo use one tablespoon baking soda to one cup of warm water, apply to your roots working it in and let it sit for a minute, this stimulates blood flow, cleans pores and gets off built-up grime, then rinse with two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup water, let it sit for a minute and then rinse out. There is also the curly girl method, this is used by people with curly hair instead of using shampoo as it prevents frizz and gives them better defined curls, this method is also known as conditioner-only (CO) method that you鈥檒l find a lot of people with long hair use. Basically CO or curly girl method is using conditioner alone, there鈥檚 enough detergent in their to cleanse the hair without stripping it of it鈥檚 natural oils so hair is left healthy.
